Privacy Policy

Effective October 2, 2026

The short version

  • Grocer stores what you tell it so it can plan meals and price lists for you: your household, budget, ZIP code, food preferences and allergies, and your conversations.
  • Your messages and any photos you attach are processed by Google’s Gemini AI model to write Grocer’s replies.
  • There are no ads and no advertising trackers, and we do not sell your information. We use Google Analytics for Firebase to see how the app is used, without advertising identifiers and without anything you type.
  • You can use Grocer without an account, and you can delete everything from Settings.

Who we are

Grocer is an app published by Calibre Integrated Works Ltd, doing business as Calibre Works (“we”, “us”), of 97 Ebitu Ukiwe St, Jabi, Abuja, Nigeria. This policy covers the Grocer apps for iPhone and Android and this website.

What we collect

We only collect what Grocer needs to do its job. Most of it you give us directly.

WhatExamplesWhy
Account A random account ID. If you create an account: your email address, or the identifier Apple or Google provides when you sign in with them. To keep your lists and plans together and let you sign back in.
Household and budget Your first name, how many people you shop for, your budget, how often you shop, and your ZIP code. To size meals and quantities, fit lists to your budget, and choose which store prices to use.
Food preferences and allergies Allergies, dietary needs, cuisines, spice level, likes and dislikes, and preferences Grocer learns in conversation. To plan meals you’ll eat and to leave out products that match your allergies.
Conversations and photos Messages you send Grocer, its replies, and any photo you choose to attach, such as a receipt. To answer you and remember the conversation.
Plans and lists Meal plans, grocery lists and what you tick off. So you can come back to them and shop from them.
Subscription status Whether you are on a trial or Grocer Pro, and when it renews or ends. To unlock the features you have access to.
Technical logs IP address, request times, and error details recorded by our servers. To keep the service running, secure and debuggable.
App usage Which steps of setup you complete, and actions such as saving a list or opening the subscription screen. Your budget as a broad range, never the figure. Your device model, operating system, app version, approximate country or region, and a random ID for your app installation. To see where Grocer helps and where people get stuck, so we can improve it.

Allergies and dietary needs can say something about your health. We use them only to plan and filter your meals and lists.

Usage data is collected with Google Analytics for Firebase. It does not use your device’s advertising identifier, is not used for advertising, and never receives your name, email, ZIP code, allergies, or anything you type into Grocer.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or payment card details. Grocer only reaches your camera or photo library when you choose to attach a photo, and only the photo you pick is sent.

How we use it

  • To plan meals, build and price grocery lists, and fit them to your budget.
  • To remember your preferences so you don’t have to repeat them.
  • To provide your trial and subscription.
  • To answer support requests you send us.
  • To keep Grocer secure and fix problems.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

The Grocer assistant

Grocer’s replies are written by Google’s Gemini model, which we run through Google Cloud’s Vertex AI service. When you message Grocer, we send the model your message, any photo you attached, the earlier conversation, and the parts of your profile it needs, such as household size, budget and allergies.

Google processes this on our behalf under its Google Cloud terms. We do not use your conversations to train AI models.

AI can make mistakes. Grocer’s prices are estimates and its suggestions are not medical or nutritional advice.

Who processes it

We use a small number of service providers to run Grocer. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.

ProviderWhat they doWhat they receive
Google (Firebase and Google Cloud) Sign-in, database, servers, the Gemini AI model, and app usage analytics. The information described in this policy.
RevenueCat Manages subscriptions. Your Grocer account ID and purchase status. Not your name or email.
Apple and Google Play Take payment for subscriptions, and provide Sign in with Apple and Google sign-in if you use them. What you give them directly under their own privacy policies. We never see your card details.
Spoonacular Recipe search and recipe details such as ingredients and method. Search terms and filters, such as a dish, cuisine or diet, and ingredients or allergens to leave out. Not your name, email, account ID or ZIP code.

Store prices are collected in advance and looked up on our servers. Your ZIP code and lists are never sent to any retailer.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply.

Where your information is processed

We are based in Nigeria, and Grocer runs on Google Cloud and Firebase servers in the United States. Your information is stored and processed there, and our providers may process it in other countries where they operate. Where the law requires, these transfers are protected by the safeguards our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.

Sharing to Discover

When you save a list you can choose to share it to Discover. This is off unless you tick it.

A shared list is a copy containing the list’s title, items, budget and total, and general details such as household size, diet and cuisines. It does not include your name, email, account ID or ZIP code, so other shoppers cannot tell who shared it.

Because the copy carries nothing that links it to you, it stays in Discover if you later delete your account, and we cannot find it from your account. To have a shared list removed, contact us with its title and roughly when you shared it.

Keeping and deleting

We keep your information while you have a Grocer account. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.

You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account. This deletes your profile, preferences, conversations, meal plans and saved lists from our database, along with your sign-in. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short period before they are overwritten. How to delete your account.

If you use Grocer without creating an account and delete the app, you lose access to that data. It is deleted from our database when you delete the account in Settings, or on request.

Your choices

  • See and correct your details any time under Settings → Update preferences.
  • Delete your account and data under Settings → Delete account.
  • Get a copy of your data by contacting us.
  • Leave things out. The diet and preference questions are optional, though Grocer’s plans will be less tailored.

Depending on where you live, including California and other US states, you may have rights to know, access, correct and delete your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for using them. Contact us to make a request. We will verify it is you before acting on it.

If you are in the UK or European Economic Area

We process your information to provide Grocer to you (performance of a contract), to keep it secure and improve it (our legitimate interests), and with your consent where we ask for it, such as for photos you choose to attach. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your information, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Do Not Track

Grocer is a mobile app, so the “Do Not Track” setting some web browsers send does not apply to it. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and this website sets no advertising cookies.

Children

Grocer is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Access rules on our database let each account read and write only its own records. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. For significant changes we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
